Whether approaching news reporting, academic essays or arts reviews, my objective is to think critically about the text and find new meanings in the images that surround our everyday lives. With a background in both journalism and cultural theory, I am primarily interested in the ways in which popular media (films, television, music) can both contest and reinforce interconnected dominant ideologies. I have produced and managed web content both as digital news editor at Chicago Tribune and social content producer for AJ+ in Washington DC. In 2016, I was selected to present my research on music festivals as heterotopian spaces by the Cultural Studies Association, where I was a presenter at their 2016 annual conference, "Policing Crises Now." Previous arts and culture reporting has been published in print and online for Do312, 1833, iPaintMyMind, The Columbia Chronicle, Streetwise Magazine and Must See Films, among others.
